0333 Delivered to VT-5, 5-T-9; Blue bottom, full colors (MS 48-14); large white battle "E" carried behind the fwd step, single white LSO stripe in 1940 photo. (SSIA, pg 18).  Aircraft later coded 5-T-4 and retained aboard after Coral Sea in pre-May markings as spare, triced to hangar bay ceiling (TGS); pg 172 shows TBD being readied for jettisoning minus outer wings during salvage work on Yorktown on 6 June.  Aero Pub. lists this A/C as ditching while returning from Tulagi strike, 5/4/42, this seems unlikely.

**** NOTE: For those interested in the exact wording of the 11th Circuit Court's 17 July 2000 overturning of a previous district court's decision to cede salvage rights of 0353 to Champlain & Co., click HERE and read very carefully.  The Navy has YET to accomplish anything on 0353 other than keeping the aircraft submerged to rot.  This is an absolute farce and I recommend contacting your Congressperson regarding this historic aircraft...if the aircraft belongs to the United States, as the court opinion states, then we as a country have the right to demand action on this.  It wouldn't hurt to remind the Congressperson it's an election year... :-)
